Two years ago, during the Wednesday night service, I taught my Leadership I class, which I have taught at Jefferson Baptist Church for 45 years. There were 22 lessons. We recorded the sermons, and several churches are now using them. Last year I taught Leadership II. This year, I am teaching 20 lessons on prayer, and several churches are already showing the videos even though I am only up to lesson three. Next year I am going to teach Leadership III. John Maxwell wrote a book entitled “21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.” I plan to call this series “19 Axioms of Leadership.” This will be mostly new material that I haven’t taught in this format before, so I will need to do a lot of reading and studying to put this series together. By “never taught it before,” I mean in a full 40-minute class. I have mentioned all of them in Leadership I and II, but in this class I will develop them more. In Leadership I, I emphasize the disciplines of the leader and self-leadership that God blesses and uses. In Leadership II, I spend most of my time teaching about the character of a leader that God blesses. In Leadership III, I will talk about the skills and leadership practices that work. In the next several months, I will use this blog to write the lessons I plan to teach. My lessons will be 40 minutes long, and my blogs will be 300 to 500 words, so they’re condensed versions of the lesson, but they’ll also get me started on the full version.
I am looking forward to researching, writing, and teaching this material. I hope you enjoy this first step.
