So tired :-(

I went swimming this morning, and I am now sitting in my chair thinking that I am just a whisker from death. I can’t believe how tired I am and I only swam for 40 minutes, but it was the first time I have been swimming for 2 years. I thought surely with all the biking and running I have been doing that swimming will be a piece of cake. Nope, I am feeling so old and so tired. It is at times like this when it is super hard to control my self talk, and not talk myself into just sitting in this chair the rest of my life. I have a full marathon on the calendar for the first weekend of May, a half Ironman Trithlon for the end of June, and a Leadman Triathlon which is longer than an Ironman scheduled for the end of September. Right now I am thinking that I am crazy, and that I should drop those and find a couple of 5K runs to do, and call that good. I am in the middle of this battle in my head as I write this, and I am not sure what the outcome will be. Sooner or later a guy has to face the fact that he can’t do this stuff anymore. I think I will go to bed.

    Dee,
NO! You can do all things, all things, all things through HIM who strengthens you. Take up your mat and walk. You can do this. I love you. Randy

You will probably get a lot of replies, hopefully all encouraging. We hope they lift you up.

If God gives you the strength to do a marathon OR teach on “Jesus Is God,” we think we know which would you choose?

We KNOW God will empower you to do ALL He has prepared you to do for Him.

We pray that today God will refresh you.

    We love you.

Pastor Dee, Robert here–the Fairbanks guy. Give yourself at least a half-dozen swims before you make any decisions–your body needs to adapt to the new type of exercise. My buddy and I are *thinking* about doing a half-iron man this summer in Chatnika, Alaska. We have recently started swimming too without having swam in a long time, and it takes some getting used to! I was a swimmer in high school, so I know that swimming takes totally different muscles than biking or running. Just watch, since you are working your muscles in new ways, I bet the 6th swim (or maybe even the 3rd swim) will feel significantly easier than the 1st swim 🙂

Yeh, attitude is better this morning. I am going again Monday morning and then again Tuesday evening. So we will see how quickly I adapt. Thanks for the encouragement.
